Integrated Care Systems (ICSs): A New Model of Collaboration
The Health and Care Act 2022 has formalised the role of Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), ushering in a new era of collaboration across health and social care. ICSs are partnerships between NHS organisations, local authorities, voluntary services, and independent care providers, designed to deliver joined-up care that meets the needs of local populations.

The Care Quality Commission is raising the bar – between April 2025 and September 2026, they plan to complete 9,000 assessments across health and social care settings. That is 5,013 assessments in adult social care, 887 in secondary care, 1,194 in primary & community care, 1,500 in oral health and primary dental care, and 726 in mental health.
